What Being a Volunteer Means
Our volunteers are the heart and soul of our BHM community because of the relationships that they develop with our youth. No community is built in a day and nobody learns to surf the first time out. That is why we ask our volunteers to commit to helping at each session. Developing consistency and building relationships between our youth and volunteers has been the unique key to the success of BHM.
Surf Instructors
BHM trains our volunteers to become surf instructors. Surf experience is not required but ocean experience is preferred. Our instructors help our participants handle the surfboards, give instructions and assure safety in the water at all times.
Men and women are encouraged to volunteer as surf instructors and share their cool experiences with their friends, family and colleagues!
Beach Volunteers
BHM beach volunteers share their enthusiasm with our young surfers in many ways. They register participants, manage the equipment, serve our delicious lunches, cheer on our young surfers, coordinate beach activities, take photos and videos and assure beach safety at all times.
